Bradford drives farm roads and the 400.
Two things wear paint here and most Bradford vehicles get both. The Holland Marsh puts produce trucks and black soil onto the concession roads through the growing season, and the county roads either side of town are gravel or tar-and-stone rather than smooth asphalt. Then the same vehicle spends the winter commuting on a salted Highway 400.
There is a lot of towing in this town as well. Trailers, farm equipment and, from May onward, boats headed for Cook's Bay and Lake Simcoe. ICON Rocklear is warranted 15 years on painted exterior surfaces and 7 years on marine gelcoat, so the truck and what it is pulling can be done to the same standard.
- 63 microns in one application, with no yearly re-coats to buy
- 15 years on automotive paint, 7 years on marine gelcoat
- Sand, road film and summer tar sit on a closed, hard surface
- Cars, trucks, SUVs, trailers and boats
Marsh roads. Salted 400.

ICON Rocklear figures are from independent ASTM testing. Other columns are typical industry ranges.
Bradford, road by road.
Soil, gravel and summer tar
The concessions around the Holland Marsh are working roads. Produce trucks track soil onto them in season, the shoulders are loose, and summer resurfacing leaves tar and stone on the surface for weeks. All of it ends up down the sides of a vehicle.
ICON Rocklear puts a hard, closed 63-micron surface over the factory paint, so what would have scoured the clear coat is taken by the coating instead.
The Highway 400 commute
Bradford runs on the 400, south to the city or north to Barrie, and that is five months of brine at highway speed. Salt spray testing is part of the independent ASTM programme behind this product.
Because the coating bonds to the paint rather than resting on it, there is nothing to wear through and nothing to reapply in the spring. One inspection within 18 months keeps the warranty active.
Boats and trailers
Cook's Bay and Lake Simcoe put a lot of Bradford trailers on the road between May and October, and gelcoat takes sun and waterline grime the way paint takes road salt.
ICON Rocklear is warranted 7 years on marine gelcoat alongside the 15 years on automotive paint, so a hull and the truck that tows it can be booked together. Fresh water or salt makes no difference to the coating.
Getting to the bay from around Bradford
The Bradford installer serves Bond Head, Holland Landing, Schomberg, Newmarket, Innisfil, Cookstown and Keswick, most of it within twenty minutes of the 400.
Coming from the south end of the region, Vaughan is usually the shorter run. Coming east along Highway 9, Orangeville covers the Dufferin side. Straight up Highway 11, North Bay is the northern bay.
