What Milton driving does to a factory finish.
Milton wears a car from two directions at once. West of town the concession roads climb the escarpment, and the aggregate trucks working the Halton quarries carry stone dust and grit onto Steeles, Derry and Regional Road 25 for most of the year. East of town the 401 and the 407 are salted from November into April, and that brine sits on the car for the length of the commute.
A lot of what comes through the bay here is newer metal, bought by people who moved to one of Ontario's fastest-growing towns and intend to keep the vehicle a long time. ICON Rocklear bonds to the factory paint in a single application and wears in place of the clear coat.
- 63 microns bonded to the factory paint in one application
- Salt spray is one of the 12 independent ASTM methods behind it
- Road film and winter grime sit on the coating, not the clear coat
- Corrected or re-coated on the panel, without stripping the car back
Escarpment grit. Fifteen winters.

Milton, road by road.
Quarry grit and escarpment gravel
The Halton quarries run heavy trucks onto Steeles, Derry and Tremaine, and the shoulders west of town shed stone dust and sand onto anything travelling behind them. Over a few seasons that abrasion is what dulls a factory clear coat.
ICON Rocklear puts 63 microns of hard, closed surface over the paint, so the wear happens to the coating. A panel that does take a serious scratch from road debris can be corrected or re-coated in place rather than the car being stripped back.
Five months of brine on the 401 and the 407
Milton commuters sit in salt from November into April, and the worst of it is not the white dust you can see. It is the liquid brine that works into panel gaps and stays wet under a car parked in a warm garage overnight.
Salt spray is one of the 12 independent ASTM methods ICON Rocklear was tested against. The coating bonds permanently to the paint instead of sitting on top as a layer that gets used up, so there is nothing to wear through.
Getting to the bay from around Halton
The Milton installer serves Campbellville, Acton, Georgetown, Nassagaweya and the Sixteen Hollow side of town, and most people reach it on Highway 25 or straight off the 401.
If you are closer to the lake than the escarpment, Oakville is the shorter run down the 407. Burlington and Waterdown drivers usually find Hamilton nearer.
Booked once, not every spring
A Milton winter is long enough that an annual top-up appointment becomes a real cost. ICON Rocklear is one installation, then a single inspection within 18 months to keep the 15-year automotive warranty active. After that there is no yearly re-coat to buy and nothing to reapply each spring.
