North York sits on top of the 401 and either side of the 404 and the Allen, and almost nobody here avoids all three. City miles are slow miles, which means longer in the spray thrown up by the vehicle in front and longer under whatever the plough put down on Yonge, Sheppard and Finch. Kerbside parking supplies the rest.
Then the car goes below ground overnight, warm and damp, with the salt still on it. That is the part most owners miss. ICON Rocklear bonds permanently to the factory paint and is not consumed the way a sacrificial layer is, so it is doing the same job in year ten as in year one.

North York, road by road.
Slow miles on the 401 and the Allen
The 401 across the top of the city is stop-start for a large part of the day, and slow traffic is worse for paint than fast traffic. You spend longer in the spray, longer under the grit and longer collecting whatever the vehicle ahead throws back.
ICON Rocklear puts a hard, closed 63-micron surface over the factory paint, so that daily film has something to sit on other than the clear coat.
Brine in a heated underground garage
Almost every apartment and condominium through Willowdale and Don Mills parks below ground, and a warm garage is the worst place a salted car can spend the night. The brine stays liquid and stays in contact for hours.
The 12 independent ASTM methods behind ICON Rocklear include a salt spray exposure, and because the coating bonds to the paint rather than resting on it, there is no sacrificial layer to use up.
Kerbside parking and tight ramps
Street parking on the residential grid and narrow ramps in older buildings account for a lot of damage that has nothing to do with driving.
A serious scratch from road debris or vandalism can be corrected or re-coated on the panel, often on site, rather than the car being stripped back. Anything deeper than that is a body shop job, and ICON Rocklear can be painted over, so it does not complicate the repair.
