Oakville drives the QEW and parks by the lake.
The QEW through Oakville is one of the busiest stretches of road in the province and it is salted heavily from November into April. Trafalgar, Dorval and Bronte Road all feed it, so a car that commutes on any of them spends the winter under a film of brine. Closer to the lake the air stays damp for much of the year, which keeps that film on the paint for longer.

Brine on the QEW
Salt is harder on a commuter car than on one that mostly sits, because the brine is renewed daily and never gets a chance to dry. Between the QEW, the 403 and the 407 there are very few Oakville drivers who avoid it.
Salt exposure is one of the 12 independent ASTM tests this coating has been through. It bonds permanently to the factory paint rather than sitting on top as a layer that gets consumed.
