Vaughan puts highway miles on a car.
Vaughan is built around the 400, the 407 and Highway 7, and the mileage here is highway mileage. That means road film at speed, five months of salt thrown up by whatever is in the next lane, and a second season most owners forget about: the Friday run north, where the shoulders are loose and resurfacing crews are out all summer.
There is also a lot of car in this city. Woodbridge and Kleinburg have a genuine enthusiast scene, and Highway 7 and Steeles carry one of the densest runs of dealerships in the region, so plenty of what we coat is only a few weeks old. ICON Rocklear goes on once, over the factory paint, and stays there.
- 63 microns in a single pass over the factory clear coat
- ASTM D4587: no change in appearance after 4,000 hours of UV and condensation
- Vinyl wrap, paint protection film and decals go on over the top
- Body shop safe, so a repaired panel can still be painted
The 400, every winter.

Vaughan, road by road.
The 400 in February
Salt on a 400-series highway does not arrive as a dusting. It arrives as spray off the vehicle in front at speed, and it reaches the mirrors, the flanks and everything behind them. Brine gets pushed into seams and stays there.
ICON Rocklear bonds permanently to the paint rather than sitting on top as a sacrificial layer, so a hard winter does not use it up. It carries a 15-year automotive warranty on painted exterior surfaces.
Cottage-country roads in July
The northbound run does a different kind of damage. Loose shoulders, sand tracked onto the pavement and fresh tar from summer resurfacing all end up down the flanks and behind the wheels.
Tar and road film lift off a hard, closed 63-micron surface far more easily than they lift off bare clear coat. Where a panel does take a serious scratch, it can be corrected or re-coated on the spot.
Getting to the bay from around Vaughan
The Vaughan installer serves Woodbridge, Maple, Concord, Kleinburg, Thornhill and the Vellore and Sonoma Heights side of the city, with Nobleton and Richmond Hill an easy run.
Coming from further south on the 400, North York is usually closer. From King City north, Bradford is the shorter drive.
New car, new coating
Dealership row on Highway 7 means a lot of Vaughan vehicles arrive with delivery mileage on them, and that is the easiest paint to work with because it has not had a winter on it yet.
Older paint is not a problem either. ICON Rocklear goes over swirls, scuffs and faded paint rather than cutting them out, which changes what the shop does first but not what you end up with.
